Past Life and Karmic Tarot
Edain McCoy
Llewellyn
Publications
I began reading this book with a
healthy dose of skepticism; however, halfway through, I was a true
believer just based on the repetition as was seeing in readings associated
with the chapters of the book.

The Kabbalah Tree
Rachel Pollack
Llewellyn
Publications
What Rachel Pollack did for the cards
of the Tarot in "Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom", she now
does for the Kabbalah. She takes a very dense and intellectual topic
and brings it down to earth using simple terms, anecdotes and humor.

The Qabalistic Tarot
Robert
Wang
Red Wheel
/ Weiser
The main reason to buy this book
and read it cover to cover, particularly for the Rider-Waite enthusiast
(I count myself as one) is the great insight this book gives you as
to why the cards have certain meanings historically.

THE HEART OF THE TAROT - The Two-card Layout: Easy, Fast, and Insightful
Sandra A Thomson, Ed. D., Robert
E. Mueller, Ph.D., and Signe E. Echols, M.S.
HarperCollins
The book begins with a chapter called
"Tarot 101" which I almost skipped; however, this chapter
does a very good job of very quickly (13 pages) not only giving some
"have-yet-to-buy-a-deck" information, but also some great
insight into the importance of questions and Tarot as a modern day
Oracle.

TAROT COMPANION: An Essential Reference
Guide
Tracy Porter
Llewellyn
Publications
There is no fluff or filler here.
In fact, the size of the book may lead one to believe there is not
a great deal of data included. Ms. Tracy is able to squeeze more useful
facts into 232 pages than many books twice that size are able to contain.

TAROT: YOUR EVERYDAY GUIDE
Janina Renee,
Llewellyn
Publications
Ms. Renee also teaches a very powerful
lesson in what Tarot really is. She is very careful to preface her
book by suggesting that Tarot is not fortune telling, but a way for
"resolving problems, making positive changes and even encouraging
good luck."

Seeker: The Tarot Unveiled
Rachel Pollack,
Llewellyn
Publications
As I have probably said about all of Rachel Pollack's books, this is a truly enjoyable read.
Ms. Pollack writes in a very accessible style with a multitude of interesting tidbits and anecdotes.
Reading one of her books is like being on an information based Easter egg hunt. Many books I review which contain
pages of card definitions get a scan treatment, but not Ms. Pollack's books. I read every word and always discover new insights.

21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card
Mary K. Greer,
Llewellyn
Publications
| All right, I am going to admit something here. I usually scan the books I review
very quickly and, if it is a book involving exercises of any type, I usually dont take the time to actually do them.
When I got to chapter 10 of this book, I realized what a valuable tool it was for anybody using Tarot at any level.
At that point, I began again at the beginning and worked through the entire book. I have been revitalized. |

The Essence of Tantric Sexuality
Mark A. Michaels and Patricia Johnson,
Llewellyn
Publications
| I have studied Tantra for five years and have trudged through numerous books on the subject. Until I read this book, I was under the false impression that Tantric study was demanding, laborious and technical. What occurs in this book is that all of the excess is trimmed away and we are left with a clear path on how to use Tantra to reach new levels of ecstasy. |

Kabbalah, Magic & the Great Work of Self Transformation: A Complete Course
Lyam Thomas Christopher ,
Llewellyn
Publications
| It has taken me months to read through this book. I usually scan through a book very quickly when I am reviewing it, reserving a more leisurely read at a later time. This book simply would not allow it. It is too packed with information to scan through it. |

Portable Magic
Donald Tyson ,
Llewellyn
Publications
| What if you could carry your alter and magical tools around with you in your pocket. That is what this book is about. Donald Tyson takes the symbolic elements of magic rituals and equates them to Tarot cards. A layout on the table represents the elements and directions usually found in an altar. Once the layout is accomplished, through visualization, you “enter” your temple to perform rituals, create charms and summon elementals. |
