Past Life and Karmic Tarot |
All I can say is "Wow!" I have a basic belief in past and future lives; however, my little, skeptical, down-to-earth, Capricorn personality is always looking for information which will validate the unseen mysteries of the world. I began reading this book with a healthy dose of skepticism; however, halfway through, I was a true believer just based on the repetition as was seeing in readings associated with the chapters of the book.
I would not suggest reading this book, as much as I would suggest working through this book chapter by chapter. After a brief introduction to each chapter, Ms. McCoy offers a spread she has designed to personalize information she has covered in the introductory material. She then offers a sample reading, which I found invaluable a number of times for clarifying the meaning of the card position. Even if you are new to this area of study, the spreads in this book are so carefully explained, that even the novice can gather a great deal of information on the topic of past and future lives just by working through the chapters.
Some of the topics for which the cards are used are truly unique. The Feng Shui spread uses the Feng Shui coordinates to provide a complete map of all aspect of a persons life with a center card depicting what the person was in a past life and their frame of mind when they left that life. The Lifetime Convergence spread traces past lifetimes with a significant other, detailing times spent together in past lives and periods of separation. The two step Karmic Choice spread asks for a choice to be made half way through the deal. All of these spread are truly unique and productive. Even the somewhat familiar spreads like the Tree of Life spread and the Constellation Past-Life Wheel, have an added freshness and excitement when applied to past and future lives.
Ms McCoy wraps the book up with two invaluable chapters. The first chapter offers and introduction to meditation and visualization. This offers a valuable way of using the cards for self-discovery and introspection. The book ends with a brief explanation of a technique for self-regression to explore past lives. This is presented in a very practical, non-threatening way which makes the reader want to know even more about this topic. A very complete bibliography makes further study possible and very accessible.
Past Life & Karmic Tarot by Edain McCoy (ISBN 0-7387-0508-X) is a great introduction into how our past lives and karma can effect our current situation and future plans. It is always exciting to discover new ways to interact with my 78 friends. I found this to be a refreshing trip of discovery.
